The Latin Martin Luther King – Get Inspired and Change your Life
Posted by La Alemana con Alma Latina at March 6th, 2011
A while back I had the pleasure of talking to Jonathan Baez, a relative of Joan Baez. In the two-hour call we had, I was smitten by his charisma and his passion to help his fellow people. He has three beautiful children and a strong wife.
Here is what Jonathan Baez had to say about our chat: “I had the pleasure of speaking with Claudia on Sunday, and I wanted to share that she truly is an inspiration to people. After our discussion, she opened my eyes in realizing that my true calling is in helping my Latino brothers and sisters; that I need to focus on empowering those that can’t empower themselves. Claudia, re-lit the fire that was once there in helping my community. It’s time to stop running and start helping those that can’t help themselves. Como muchos antes de mi recibieron el llamado…ahore es mi oportunidad. Aqui esto para empezar a revolucionar la comunidad hispana, gracias Claudia, por dejar que Dios te use para abrir los ojos de este siervo.” Jonathan Baez, CEO & Founder at Beyond Computer Repair LLC, February 1st, 2011
His background is Puerto Rican. In his 28 years of living, he has seen a lot and gone through a lot and came back. He sees creativity, innovation, knowledge in the Latin community. He overcame struggles and came out stronger!
I call him the Latin Martin Luther King because his charisma and his words are pulling you into the right mindset for change.
In the interview, he is sharing fascinating stories about his experiences from childhood, being born with a heart disease, having had a stroke and open heart surgeries in his 20ies, his mom telling him that he was a mistake to be born, from racism against him as a Hispanic (how he changed someone’s perspective towards Hispanics), from tough times (living on the street, getting close to dying and being involved in gangs) to his ingenuity and his own very unique business and family.
He shares his views about the Latin community, life, oppression, pain and suffering and breaking these chains to be the powerful man or woman in this world.
The enemy of success and freedom: FEAR and WANTING TO STAY IN YOUR COMFORT ZONE! Do not let people force you into your comfort zone out of your fear of criticism or failure!
“Sometimes we have to hear our own words.” Jonathan Baez
